Capital Resources and Links

The University of California, Merced is committed to creating exceptional environments that support student success, advance world-class research, and strengthen the communities we serve. Our capital program helps bring this mission to life by planning, developing, and stewarding facilities that enable learning, discovery, and public service across our campuses. Through thoughtful investment and responsible project delivery, we ensure UC’s physical environment continues to evolve in support of future generations.

Why Does UC Merced Have a Vision for Growth and Development?

Increasing Access to Education:

The expansion will allow more students, especially those in California, the ability to access higher education. This is particularly important for the rapidly growing and underserved region around UC Merced.

Sustainability and Community Engagement:

The development aims to make UC Merced a model for sustainability and environmental stewardship in the 21st century. The campus has a goal to reflect and celebrate the diverse cultures and history of its location in the San Joaquin Valley and connect more with the global community.

Research and Interdisciplinary Learning:

By growing, UC Merced can enhance its research capabilities, especially those that start locally and have the potential to impact globally. The expansion also supports interdisciplinary learning, allowing students to benefit from a broad range of academic perspectives.

Address Challenges of Funding and Resources:

The growth is partly a response to the need for more resources and funding. Expanding the campus can help attract more funding, grants, and philanthropy, which are essential for maintaining high-quality education and research.
